Winning the customer satisfaction game

The results of J.D. Power and Associates seventh annual analysis of customer satisfaction in the financial advisory industry are in, and the results are instructive.

The big winners were: Edward Jones, LPL Financial Services, Charles Schwab, Raymond James and Ameriprise Financial. What about the big Wall Street or nationwide, full service brands? Morgan Stanley, Fidelity Investments, Wachovia Securities, Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America all ranked in the bottom six.

You would have to think the results were influenced to some extent by the negative press the big banks suffered. Indeed, Reuters notes the survey found that "customers felt they were not getting enough contact with their advisers--even as the data suggested they may have been getting the same amount of contact as last year."
