Who should lead Citi?

It didn't take long for the speculation game to start once Robert Rubin announced he would step off the Citi board. The view is that the government is pressing Citi to shake up its board and replace its chairman Win Bischoff, according to the New York Times. The leading candidate to become chairman is Richard Parsons, the chairman of Time Warner and a longtime Citi director.

You have to wonder if he's got the time to chair the boards of two very complex companies. The real question is how long CEO Vikram Pandit, who lost a key ally when Rubin left, will be able to hang on. The Times reports the board is frustrated with his leadership, as are some analysts and shareholders.
