CNBC reporter Charles Gasparino offers an interesting account of his recent talk with former Bear Stearns CEO Jimmy Cayne on The Daily Beast. The two had a pretty good relationship it seemed when times were good. No doubt Cayne was a great source, but is there any way to rehabilitate the guy?

Well, they spoke some about Bernie Madoff. Cayne, who may still be worth up to $100 million, said this: "I'm in my country club in Florida, in the men's locker room, there are five guys sitting around, and they've all been Madoffed. It's insane." And the author concludes that at least Cayne wasn't as bad Madoff, though some investors may beg to differ. Some suggest that Cayne's reputation may be salvageable. What do you think?
