What Stanford has wrought in Antigua?

R. Allen Stanford, before his firm imploded, was an outsized Texas figure in Antigua. Outside the government, he was the largest local employer. And, as Fortune notes, "the Texas banker built a flashy playground--the massive Stanford International Bank and the Bank of Antigua buildings, the Pavilion Restaurant, and the Stanford Athletic Club." Not to mention the cricket club and the Sticky Wicket restaurant and bar, where he was said to have spent a lot of time. Unfortunately, the arrested financier--and his Stanford Group investment firm--may be yet another symbol of greed and corruption. Certainly, he's having an effect on local politics.
