Wall Street's financial crisis: The movie

What we have yet to see from all the drama on Wall Street is the definitive chronicle--a book to capture the era like Barbarians at the Gate captured takeover madness or the way Liar's Poker captured the bond-related madness back in the 1980s. But will we get a great movie out of all this? It's possible.

HBO has apparently acquired the rights to Too Big to Fail by New York Times reporter Andrew Ross Sorkin. (You have to wonder what CNBC's Charles Gasparino thinks; he authored The Sellout). Apparently, there will be other books involved. The original movie project called for the feature to be based on a book co-written by Sorkin's Times colleague Joe Nocera and Vanity Fair writer Bethany McLean, who haven't turned in their manuscripts, according to deadline.com.

With its new acquisition, HBO will marry the source materials to chronicle the financial crisis the same way that Recount dissected the Florida results in the 2000 election. So who will play who? There's lots of fun to be had, so please post your ideas. Henry Paulson (Henry Paulson news) was asked who he thought should play him. He suggested "a young Paul Newman," before settling on brining back Yul Brynner.
