Wall Street firms hit by Katrina contribute to aid effort
Most top Wall Street banks have a presence in Katrina-hit areas. Citigroup announced that all of its 1,300 employees in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama have been accounted for. Same goes for UBS' 71 staffers. Two firms, JPMorgan and AG Edwards, said they had not yet heard from all employees. JPMorgan, which employs 1,100 in New Orleans, said it has heard from all but a handful. Most are contributing significantly. Citigroup has promised up to $8.2 million, the biggest contribution to date.
