Vanguard changes names of ETFs
This sounds like a smart move. Vanguard will change the name of its VIPERs, which stood for Vanguard Index Participation Equity Receipts, to Vanguard ETFs, so the Vanguard Total Stock Market VIPER will be known as the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF. The move was likely driven by marketing concerns. There may be many that did not connect Vanguard's product with ETFs. Also, a snake may not be the right image. The ticker symbols will not change.
