Tough time to launch a hedge fund
We've noted that entry costs have really soared in the hedge fund industry. The days of someone starting up with a computer in his Manhattan studio apartment--always something of a myth--are dead. We've also noted that executives with the right corporate pedigree would always find a market, but that no longer seems entirely true. FINalternatives notes that some start-ups, by people with the right credentials, are running into trouble. Two former managers from Bridgewater Associates were readying the Koshdan Beta Neutral Fund for an October launch, and that's now on hold until January. There are other would-be launches in similar straights.
