After the merger of the New Yorks Stock Exchange and Archipelago, Jerry Putnam will become one of three NYSE co-presidents. Those who know the scrappy chief of the upstart ECN may wonder how he will fare as he transitions to a more tradition-oriented company. According to The New York Times, Putnam is known as something of an outsider, a hard-charging entrepreneur used to close combat. He says he expects no problems. It will be fun to watch.
