Taking on Madoff not easy

Harry Markopolos, the would-have-been hero of the Madoff scandal if only people had listened to him, says he actually feared for his life, which was why he did not initially disclose his identity to regulators. He is set to appear at a Congressional hearing, and the New York Times reports he might talk a bit about what it was like taking on a very powerful Wall Street titan.

He "was one of the most powerful men on Wall Street and in a position to easily end our careers or worse." He did not go to Finra because he thought Madoff and his brother wielded too much influence. The more Markopolos says--and he now has a website--the worse the SEC looks.
