Stewart gets the best of Cramer on Brawl Street?
It was touted at the top of major newspapers: Jon Stewart vs. Jim Cramer. The satirist vs. the TV stock market pundit. In the end, I think we can all agree that Stewart held the upper hand the whole way. Says the Washington Post's TV critic: "Stewart became 'Crossfire Jon,' the avenging media critic, demanding to know why CNBC failed so badly in warning us, the investing public, of the looming meltdown. He was mad and loaded for Bear Stearns."
Despite the snake-oil charges, Cramer, who came out with his sleeves up, took the shots in an unexpected way: He didn't fight back, and came off really contrite. Frankly, it was a bit of a let down. But even he can't rebut the idea that he and all of CNBC could have done better by their audience.
