Spacs' appeal may be enhanced even more
So-called special purpose acquisition companies, or Spacs, drew a lot of attention in 2005, especially from the top international banks. These entities are basically companies formed to make acquisitions, usually within a specific industry where the entity has management expertise. They appeal to investors as alternatives to private equity funds because they promise exposure to a particular sector. There's a lot of tinkering going on, which just might enhance their appeal even more to institutions.
