SaveDave campaigns spread, employee's job spared

This is the sort of story that goes viral these days. Recall the plight of David Kiely, who works at Macquarie Private Wealth in Sydney and sits behind a live TV interview area. He was caught on camera, opening up an email that delivered racy picture of a supermodel. Busted!

Well, it turns out the bank has decided not to fire him. There were suggestions he was the victim of an office prank. Of course no one was standing there forcing him to open the email. But he may not have known what the content was. Local media reported that he was sent a series of emails with the final mail ending with the words "turn around now".

In any case, Kiely has achieved 15 minutes of fame via YouTube and the rise of numerous SaveDave campaigns across the industry. More than a dozen Facebook sites emerged to support him. Things got really wacky when the supermodel herself weighed in his defense. Miranda Kerr, the  26-year-old Australian-born model, told reporters she hoped the banker would not lose his job. "I am told there is a petition to save his job, and of course I would sign it."
