Raiders no more, activist hedge funds find success
Hedge funds that take on management are starting to show signs of real success, according to a new study. Morgan Joseph's new Shareholder Activist Group has found that more than 35 percent of campaigns waged by hedge funds have resulted in at least one fund-friendly board representative. Their conclusion is that a "new class of activist investors" will force management to be aware of their vulnerability. A strong stock price of course is one defense.
