Private equity turns eyes to Silicon Valley
You know something is in the air when people start talking about taking Microsoft private, even in jest. The idea has come up, as we've noted. It won't happen but it highlights the fact that private equity firms are eying big technology as a great new source of business. Silicon Valley's angst over Sarbox, earnings and other public-company concerns could be opening office doors to them. It would certainly be a sea-change in culture for an industry that used to mint millionaires with hot stocks and promises of IPOs.
