Where will big private equity firms go next? By the looks of things, the most popular overseas destination in the near future will be emerging markets, where returns are starting to sizzle. A new survey has found that nearly 80 percent of limited partners say these markets will account for a larger piece of their commitments over the next three years, up from 45 percent three years ago. Asia seems to be the hot spot, with nearly 90 percent saying they expect to invest in the region. Many think China and India will dominate the region in terms of investments. Central and Eastern Europe/Russia are close behind. None of this is surprising. The real wildcard is the politics of the such investments.
