Citigroup may have found one with its ability to lend stock. If you are trying to carve your way into the market, you need an edge. Unsurprisingly, many have touted so-called capital introduction services. Hey, if you can get the average hedge fund more assets, it will be indebted to you. But as AllAboutAlpha.com notes, hedge funds have generally been disappointed with these services. Gathering assets is as hard as ever, and the hedge fund industry entry costs have soared. A prime broker doesn't look to be the answer.
