Possible mergers raise regulatory questions
Amid much hype about synergies involving transatlantic exchange mergers, people seem to be ignoring the elephant in the room: How will these combined exchanges be regulated, and by whom? Transatlantic exchange mergers threaten to add another layer of complexity to an already complex and redundant system. But, there is an upside. Sorting out the regulatory questions could finally compel the U.S., which has shown little inclination toward reform, to grapple seriously with some big issues.
