Opposition to TXU deal buds

The TXU deal has been hailed as a striking example of how private equity firms, utilities and environmental activists can work together for the common good. But the real story is bit more complex. There is simmering view out there, led by Dallas Mayor Laura Miller, a feisty former newspaper reporter, that holds that the private equity guys have gotten the better of the activists. This group of dissidents will seek more concessions and are not ready to give up, not by a long shot. They want more clean up in certain areas and better, cleaner technology for two planned plants among other things. There seems to be a budding movement toward more roadblocks and opposition. We'll see how it goes.
