NYSE bids for Euronext
We've discussed at length the global stock exchange sweepstakes that seems to be underway. The latest wrinkle is that the New York Stock Exchange has made an offer for Euronext, which operates several exchanges across Europe. The Euronext board will meet to discuss the deal. The NYSE proposal would create a company listed in New York. The big loser might be Deutsche Bourse, which already has a deal for Euronext up for shareholder approval.
