No anger over corporate jets this time

Recall that in 2008, automotive executives outraged many when the traveled to Washington on corporate jets to ask for bailout funds. The media had a field day. Since then, the media has feasted on stories of executive perks and excesses, and of course big bonuses at banks that were on the TARP dole at the time.

The top banks of course have paid back their TARP obligations, and then there was little outrage when two of the four chief executives of top banks flew to Washington on corporate jets. Reuters reported that Bank of America (BAC) CEO Brian Moynihan and JPMorgan (JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon both took the corporate jets while former Morgan Stanley (MS) CEO John Mack flew commercial. It's unclear how Goldman Sachs (GS) CEO Lloyd Blankfein got there. But the lack of anger suggests that the public emotionalism that has marked the crisis has abated.
