McCann to get out of non-compete?
Bob McCann was expected to be in state court today, to ask a judge to let him out of his Bank of America non-compete agreement so he can take a "once in a lifetime" job with UBS, reports Bloomberg. McCann said he would leave Bank of America in January, on the heels of the company's acquisition of Merrill Lynch.
After first saying McCann's resignation would take effect in July, Bank of America fired him in February, his suit says. He also argues that in trying to enforce the non-compete clause, the "vengeful" bank is trying to "punish and humiliate" him for trying to quit Bank of America. Stay tuned. UBS apparently still wants to hire him as head of its wealth management unit. If they really want him, they'd be willing to wait if they have to. He says, however, the opportunity not come again.
