MBA worth it or not on Wall Street
The New York Times offers an interesting article about a trend among Wall Sreet's young toward skipping business school. It was de rigueur not too long ago to spend two years as an abused underling before going off to get an MBA. But increasingly, the top employees are being asked to stay. It's gotten to the point that if people do not stay, others might count them among the non-super successful. Also, in some corners, notably hedge funds, the degree carries a bit less cachet. But when the job market is tight, business school is a great way to sit out the turbulence if you get whacked. It's a nice option to have.
