The New York Times suggests that Marty Lipton has become the go-to guy for executives and corporate boards that have been battered and bruised by governance issues. Morgan Stanley is a great example. Lipton was already a board adviser on governance issues, but he quickly expanded his portfolio to include advising the board, ex-CEO Phil Purcell and the company itself "on tactics, legalities, and, most controversially, severance pay to departing executives." He remains in heavy demand.
