Madoff victims aim to influence judge

Bernard Madoff will be sentenced on June 29 in Manhattan. I wouldn't say his victims are out for literal blood, but they would like the Ponzi scheme master to suffer mightily. To voice this view, they have sent more than 100 letters to judge Denny Chin, who will sentence Madoff. He faces penalties on 11 criminal charges that would add up to a sentence of 150 years, Reuters reports.

Most likely, he'll spend the rest of his life in prison, but this rankles some. "Due to his egregious deeds, Mr. Madoff deserves no better than to live under a bridge in a cardboard box, scavenging for his food and clothing, living the existence which he has undoubtedly relegated some unfortunate victims to," wrote one victim. "Instead, he will be allowed to serve his sentence in the relative comfort of prison, being guaranteed food, shelter, clothing, medical care and treatment." Another likened him to a murderer and wants him jailed with hardcore criminals, for maximum discomfort. Others have asked to speak at his sentencing.
