Madoff scandal claims high-society feeder family
We've been speculating about who else will be indicted in the widening Bernard Madoff scandal. Not surprisingly, Massachusetts' top securities regulator has accused a major Madoff feeder fund, Fairfield Greenwich Group of Connecticut, with civil fraud. Mass. regulators charges that company officials "were coached by Madoff on how to answer federal investigator's questions about his investment practices and misrepresented how much they really knew" about the risks of a blowup, reports the AP.
Fairfield Greenwich Group was just one of handful of feeder funds that seemed to exist to funnel money to Madoff. They'll likely portray themselves as victims. You have to wonder who's next. The Fairfax Greenwich Group was run by Walter Noel, who along with his family has become something of a society fixture in Greenwich.
