The New York Post has been talking to some fellow inmates of Bernard Madoff and suggests that Madoff is dying of cancer. He's been taking lots of pills, apparently. The Post also reports that Bernie has been "killing time at the prison participating in Native American religious purification ceremonies held at an on-grounds 'sweat lodge,' other sources said. He accepted invitations from Native American inmates to join them at their weekly prayer services. The ceremonies involve praying, using heated rocks to induce sweat and smoking from a ceremonial pipe." Is this for his illness?

You have to wonder what secrets he'll take to his grave. Madoff may also have a new group of friends: A gay "posse, although the relationships are purely platonic." He also has a job painting fences. All in all, he seems to be adapting. He's serving his 150-year term in a North Carolina prison.
