Limited partners sound off about private equity
We're are indeed in a golden era of private equity investment. But that doesn't mean that limited partners are just ecstatic about everything. These guys account for perhaps one-third of the investments in private equity funds. They lodged some interesting complaints at a recent conference in Europe. Some limited partners say the awesome capital influx recently is responsible for spoiling the traditional supply/demand dynamic of the industry. Others note the twin issues of new fund proliferation and shortened time lines for due diligence, both of which hinder their ability to make allocation decisions comfortably. Limited partners are not the only ones voicing concerns. But the big pensions may have more clout with general partners who are trying to make decisions quickly.
