Liberty Bank and Trust rebuilds after Katrina
September 19, 2005 — 8:01pm ET
Liberty Bank and Trust's missions as one of the country's largest black-owned banks has long been to serve New Orleans' northeastern quadrant, home to the city's black middle class. And yet somehow, according to The New York Times, it has managed to continue offering a full plate of services, "even if it sometimes seems everything has been jerry-built using chewing gum and baling wire, and some of the employees are still unaccounted for."
