KKR private equity unit goes public

A private equity unit of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company has gone public--in Amsterdam. The offering raised $5 billion amid strong demand. Demand for the fund unit was high, as the sale generated more than three times what was expected, according to the New York Times. KKR Private Equity Investors joins a long list of publicly traded private equity firms in Europe. In the U.S., the idea was hot last year, but concerns of various conflicts dampened the idea. A trend never really emerged.
