Ken Lewis to detail use of TARP funds

Is it too late for Ken Lewis, CEO of Bank of America? Many are calling for his head. The bank has been forced back to the government trough with its hand out. And the last-minute machinations of Merrill Lynch executives--notably John Thain's decision to accelerate bonus payments as the ship was sinking--certainly threw more mud on Lewis's face. 

He's now promising a plan to publish regular reports that will detail how Bank of America is investing and spending TARP funds in 10 key areas, including lending, Fortune reports. The plan was designed to mollify regulators. We'll see if it works. It certainly isn't a bad idea. Other banks may be forced to follow suit. But it may not be enough to quell the anger Bank of America has generated as of late.
