JPMorgan eyes regional banks
Regional banks are on the radar of JPMorgan Chase, which has lots of cash and seems willing to put it to use. Fresh off its mega deal, CEO Jaime Dimon says the bank is "open-minded" but is seeking high-growth regions first and foremost. Analysts have suggested that California or Florida would be logical area of expansion, given the bank's current small footprint in those regions. Forbes suggests that it should consider SunTrust, which is active across the south but is particularly strong in Florida. Another possibility would be BB&T, which is open to a merger. Based in North Carolina, it would also give JPMorgan a wide presence in the south. You can bet the bankers are working overtime on this.
