JP Morgan embraces stock bonuses

Cash is king on Wall Street these days. Unfortunately, if you're a top exec at a top bank, you've seen less of it in your annual pay package. The latest: JP Morgan Chase has decided to reduce the cash bonus portions of pay packages to just 25 percent. The portion awarded in restricted stock was boosted to 75 percent from 50 percent. This hardly is surprising, but for some execs it is, of course, frustrating. At the same time, in this environment they're not going anywhere. So the handcuffs fit well, so to speak. The grant price is low enough that, long term, it may be worth it. That's assuming the stock price will rise fairly soon.
