Is Bill Miller's streak in jeopardy?
Bill Miller is revered as the only fund manager to ever beat the S&P 500 during each of the past 15 calendar years. That's an awesome accomplishment. You'll recall that last year he needed a last-minute surge in order to keep the streak alive. This year, there may be less last-minute drama. His Value Trust, about $19 billion in assets, lost 5.67 percent in the first half of this year vs. a 1.44 percent dip by the S&P 500. Ouch! It will definitely be hard to catch up. The fund currently ranks in the bottom 1 percent of peer funds.
