An inside look at Madoff's Florida estate
Recall that U.S. marshals took control of Bernard Madoff's $9.2 billion mansion in Palm Beach. According to the Palm Beach Post, this is what they found: A lot of bull. "Pictures of bulls, bull statues, even bulls on clothing. There's a lot of bull in the house," one marshal told the paper. Even the 55-foot yacht moored nearby was named Bull. A 24-foot speedboat was named Little Bull.
This is part of an effort to take Madoff's assets worldwide. There are plans to seize a $1 million chalet and two boats in France; a $3 million home on Long Island; a bank account of Ruth Madoff's that contains $17 million; and municipal bonds worth an estimated $45 million. In addition to the $2.6 million worth of jewelry owned by his wife Ruth, a Steinway piano valued at $39,000 and silverware valued at $65,000, notes the paper. Meanwhile, some victims are moving to push Madoff into involuntary bankruptcy to ensure that his assets are used to pay off those he owes.
