The human cyclone at Citi

It's a grand pastime, in the corporate world, to trash people as they exit the firm. If there was a lot of stored-up venom, it will all come cascading out. So it goes with Citigroup's (C) Teresa Dial, stepped down after a controversial 18-month tenure, during which she was apparently known as the "human cyclone" for her "erratic management style," according to the New York Times.

The article notes that "several Citigroup directors panned a presentation about the bank's global consumer strategy that was given at a retreat for the company's board members last summer. By the fall, after the findings of the leadership review were shared with Citigroup's regulators and board, bank insiders buzzed that Ms. Dial had received a poor assessment." Ouch. The knives are out, but others think Dial was never given sufficient latitude to really succeed. They say she left as opposed to being pushed.
