Harvey Pitt takes on Eliot Spitzer
March 6, 2006 — 8:01pm ET
Harvey Pitt, former SEC chairman on Eliot Spitzer: He is "New York's AG, and you know what that stands for--Aspiring Governor." Ba-da-boom. Pitt, now a consultant, sounded off to journalists in a small gathering. Pitt then said that Spitzer's huge settlement from Merrill Lynch benefited the state coffers rather than investors. "Why? Because he wasn't concerned about investors." He was especially caustic on the issue of Spitzer's suit against Dick Grasso, former head of the NYSE. He thinks it is a private dispute. When you get past the cat-fighting, he's also concerned about hedge funds.
