Goldman Sachs names new MDs
If you're young at Goldman Sachs, you aspire to be a partner. But before you can become a partner, you must first become a managing director. The MD class of 2007 at Goldman saw 299 people earn that status, the largest class ever, according to Financial News Online. Nearly 20 percent of the new managing directors are women, compared to about 15 percent last year.
Truth be told, some of these people could make more money elsewhere, cashing in on their Goldman Sachs credentials. But many will opt to stick it out to see if they can make partner, who make about $600,000 annually in salary but split 15 percent of the bonus pool. So total take home pay could be in the $10 million range. Good work if you can get it. Unfortunately, the chances of MDs rising to partner MD are not good. But you might as well stick it out. Â
