Goldman Sachs to benefit from new rules?
We're all bracing for a slew of new financial regulations, but lost in all that talk is the fact that not all firms will suffer to the same degree. One analyst, Keith Horowitz of Citigroup, thinks that Goldman Sachs may benefit from the new rules, relative to the industry, notes Bloomberg.
Here's an example: If the new rules indeed require central clearing of OTC credit products, Goldman Sachs may find itself in good shape vis a vis its peers, thanks mainly to its technological prowess and previous investment in its electronic trading infrastructure. We'll have to see how all this play out, but some companies will be able to better weather the change.
