Goldman opening up GSTrUE?
What happens when Goldman Sachs takes on the world? Well, in some cases, the world can win. Case in point: The Goldman Sachs Tradeable Unregistered Equity program, better known as GSTrUE. (I never understood the lowercase r, but whatever.) It scored some great media around the time of the Oaktree offering. But that was followed by lots of news about competitive services. And not just NASDAQ's Portal. OPUS-5 made something of a splash for its backers, which include Bank of America, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley. To its credit, Goldman Sachs is now talking about industry-wide solutions and has made its patent publicly available for comment, according to Financial News Online. This is pretty good news for the market as a whole. The last thing you want is a situation where proprietary operating system-like technologies create headaches for customers.
