Gloom-and-doom crew vindicated on Wall Street?
You know the old cliché about how rumors have a way of being true--eventually? Well, the corollary on Wall Street is that all perpetual bears will eventually have their day in the sun, if only temporarily. Business Week Online notes that the likes of Stephen Roach, former chief economist of Morgan Stanley, and money managers John Hussman and Nassim Nicholas Tale are being proved correct. Roach was preaching doom two years ago. Eventually, Morgan Stanley pushed him down to a lesser role in Asia. The takeaway here is that you will look good if you come out with a bearish view at the height of a bull market and vice versa. We'll likely see some crazy sounding bullish calls soon. They'll eventually come true. Now the short-term calls are more impressive, if not more luck-driven.
