Jamie Dimon is only 53, and he's found himself atop the financial services industry. More than any other top executive, he has used to the crisis to burnish his reputation. He's the man right now, when it comes to the banking industry. So where does he go from here?

Well, it's fair to say succession has been an issue, and there are some who think that he will at least consider leaving on a high note. And to get JPMorgan Chase (JPM) to a true pinnacle, he has some work to do.

CNNmoney notes that the bank has not risen to its pre-crash heights in terms of earnings. It's unclear if that will happen soon, given the banks consumer exposure. Not too long ago, people thought Dimon would seek a big merger, but that may not be in the offing either, nothing transformative anyway. If he wants to leave at the top, he could leave now or wait and leave at an even higher peak, assuming he doesn't falter first.
