Fidelity a no-show in ETF market

Where is Fidelity? The exchange traded funds market is as hot as ever. And that makes Fidelity Investment's absence more notable. It hasn't launched an ETF in three years. In fact, it offers just one such product, the Fidelity Nasdaq Composite Index Tracking, which doesn't seem to be the object of much marketing support. What's going on? Most of Fido's new assets come from retirement plans. And so far anyway the demand to sock these funds away in ETFs isn't great. Of course, Fidelity can make more from actively managed funds. They may be forced to change. At some point, people may start demanding lower cost alternatives for their 401k money.
