It's been two years since Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy and the former executives are still in the news. Erin Callan, for example, who has done her best to stay out of the public view, is still deemed worthy this update by CNBC: "We're told by a person familiar with the matter that Callan is still dating Queens firefighter Anthony Montella. They live together in a house in East Hampton, according to the person."

CNBC "tracked down the house," which it reports is a six-bedroom, 5,500 square foot New England style stunner worth $3.9 million. Erin bought it in 2005 with her former husband.

This of course isn't exactly scintillating news. But it goes to show that in controversial situations staying out of the spotlight can actually intensify it.

The article prompted a call to Callan from a Fortune reporter, who wrote that Callan is the Greta Garbo of Wall Street. She stayed on the line for four minutes, but said, "I'm not ready to talk. And I don't know if I ever will be ready to step out into public view."

Given the possibility of charges, which seem to be waning frankly, she has every reason to be cautious with the press. By the time she is ready to talk, she may no longer be news--which may be her strategy.
