Did Madoff scam his own sister?

Bernard Madoff's sister lives in the BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach with likes of Serena and Venus Williams. But her comfortable life has been rocked by her own brother. Friends tell the New York Post that she has lost about $3 million due to the scandal. Her sister said this: "Yes, my family's a victim. More so than anybody else. It's very painful."

So in the PR battle--one in which Bernard Madoff is faring pretty poorly--this counts as yet another big loss. The house has been put up for sale, for less than a million. Not that it matters much, but when Madoff sent out jewelry just recently, possibly in violation of bail terms, he sent some to his sister. It has since been gathered up by lawyers.
