It's been two years since Lehman Brothers (Lehman Brothers news) imploded, and the people in the middle of it all remain fascinating character studies. Erin Callan has sought a new life. And now former CEO Dick Fuld--in many ways the poster boy for all that went wrong on Wall Street--is trying get his second act started.

Fuld (Richard Fuld news) is still building his advisory boutique, Matrix, reports Fortune. And he's been busy in other ways. "He has also been spotted traveling to and from his usual haunts in Sun Valley and Jupiter Island, Fla., on commercial flights for the first time in years. (Curiously, he shows up on the FAA website as having gotten his student pilot's certificate in November 2008, so he might be working on a strategy to avoid commercial air travel.)"

But he's also facing a potential wave of enforcement actions. He's in the cross hairs of the SEC and Department of Justice, which have convened three grand juries to look at Lehman Brothers. Some think charges are forthcoming. Last week, some media reports held they were imminent, though the status of prosecutors' plans remain unclear. Certainly, it's been tough sledding for the 64-year-old. He's a stubborn man, and if charged, he just might go to trial on principle.
