Details on Goldman scandal emerge

We're getting word of some details in the case of Sergey Aleynikov, who was arrested for allegedly stealing 32 megabytes of proprietary code from Goldman Sachs. Aleynikov told an FBI agent that he had accessed Goldman's computers remotely from his home and sent encrypted files to a repository server with the URL identifier svn.xp-dev.com, according to a copy of his FBI statement filed in Manhattan federal court, which was dug up by Bloomberg.

Bloomberg also reported that "Xp-dev.com is registered to London resident Roopinder Singh, who describes himself on a blog linked to the site as a trading systems developer working in London's financial services industry. The site offers 'subversion hosting,' letting users track current and previous versions of programming code and other documents." Singh decried Aleynikov's move as pure and simple theft, the work of an "idiotic moron." Aleynikov also contends that he didn't share the code with anyone.
