Cox not giving up on hedge fund regulation
"Hedge funds are not, should not be, and will not be unregulated." So said SEC Chairman Chris Cox before the Senate Banking Committee hearing. That clears up a bit of confusion about Cox's tendencies and the fate of hedge fund regulation in general. Cox has directed staffers to revive some rules--terming the moves "emergency" steps--that were invalidated by an appeals court decision last month. But it is also continuing to evaluate the decision in order to find workarounds.
