Connecticut to take harder line on hedge funds?
Connecticut would seem to be among the states most likely to look favorably upon hedge funds; much of the industry is clustered in the Greenwich area, and lots of executives call Conn. their home, making the area one of the most affluent in the country. But local politicians are taking aim at the industry.
According to FINAlternatives, Nutmeg State lawmakers have proposed several measures to rein in hedge funds, "from upping the requirements to invest in hedge funds to forcing changes in management strategy" to requiring some form of registration. You have to wonder if the industry will fight these measures, or pick up and flee back to New York.
