Citigroup wants to help guide employees

Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit is letting it be known that he still cares about employee career development. The New York Times has obtained a memo noting that "over the past year and a half, we have been very focused on the talent management activities at our senior leadership levels via assessing skills and abilities of our leaders, reviewing succession plans, creating more robust development plans and executing action plans to address overarching talent strengths and needs at Citi."

Some may snicker, but it must be reassuring to employees that it's still career-as-usual in some ways. Certainly, you don't want the ranks to think that it's perpetual crisis mode. The memo continues: "This year, we want to continue to broaden and deepen our focus on talent at Citi by better identifying growth and development opportunities, and providing developmental feedback to employees to enhance their careers. In order to do this, we plan to collect more comprehensive information about your experiences and education..."
